EDITOR'S BLOG

We had an awesome day out at Bruntingthorpe recently, when a group of our readers and some of the ACW staff got a load of muscle cars together for a bit of playtime. It’s not easy to use your car at full-tilt nowadays (although I managed against a new 911 Carrera S on the way home…), so getting on to Bruntingthorpe’s 2-mile straight and letting rip was great fun.

We were joined by Malcolm Jones of Claridges Cars who brought along a 2006 Dodge Charger SRT-8, Andy Przybyl with his ’69 Camaro Pro Touring, Ian Colley and his ’70 Mustang Mach 1, Roydon Mitchell and son James with their ’72 340ci Challenger, and lastly staffers Chris Jenkins and Jeff Manni, who brought along their ’06 Corvette Zo6 and blown ’05 GT respectively. I added all the horsepower up and it came to over 2500hp, which amazingly didn’t create any havoc with the 90dB noise meter at Bruntingthorpe. The only car that did was my own project Cobra!

This kind of day out testing your car is much needed, as you get to use your car to its limits. Whether you do the same at a dragstrip, or a track day at one of the many UK circuits, the experience will make you realize why you enjoy owning a V8 American car so much.

And check out our new 'Fuel Crisis?' T-shirts, we gave a shirt to each tester on the day and you can check them out in the August issue - on sale on the 15th July. Our CHP ace snapper Micahel Ward took some fantastic pix that you can see in the issue, so good in fact that we have produced a giant poster of the cars FREE with the August issue. The T-shirts are FREE to new subscribers, or you can buy them for a modest £12.95 just go to 'Fuel Crisis?' T-shirt

And with all this rain about at the moment, perhaps a little V8 rear-wheel-drive action is just what you need to brighten your day, if you know what I mean!
